Measuring Pain

I designed this device to obtain an objective measure of post operative pain following carpal tunnel release. The measurements made by this device were compared with the value of pain as perceived by the patients using a visual analogue scale.

The above device produced a continuous signal that was collected and processed by a computer and data acquisition software. The results are shown as pain curves such as those of subjects T and W displayed below.
